Carpet Installation
What to expect during your carpet installation
After you select your favorite soft carpet, it’s time to get ready for installation! Make sure to clear out the rooms completely of furniture, electronics, wall hangings, and all items in the closets. This may require you to rearrange other rooms in the home to accommodate your furnishings. Also, now is the best time to complete any painting on the walls or touch-ups in the room beforehand as well.
Since carpet cannot be installed over existing flooring, the old floors will need to be removed entirely and disposed of properly. Then, your subfloor will need to be assessed, and any imperfections will need to be repaired to ensure a perfectly level surface for carpet installation.
Plan to be home during your carpet installation in order to answer any questions that may arise for the installation crew. This is your chance to ask questions as well! Designate an area for the workers to keep potentially dangerous tools and cut carpet as needed. Keep all pets and children away from the rooms receiving new carpet and the worker’s specified area.
Once your carpet is completely installed, your installers will specify the amount of time you need to wait before the rooms can receive foot traffic, and when you can return furnishings. As you bring furniture back into the room, always lift up or use rolling equipment, never drag furniture, and use felt pads underneath heavy legs to reduce impact.
